Sustainability
Aura has been meticulously designed to harmonise with its unique natural surroundings, offering glimpses of the majestic Glasshouse Mountains and providing easy access to the vibrant beaches of Caloundra and the serene Pumicestone Passage. Throughout the project’s lifespan, Aura is committed to minimising its impact on the Sunshine Coast region’s water supply while safeguarding the water quality and ecological integrity of Pumicestone Passage.
Our approach to water management goes beyond conservation—it’s about maximising efficiency and setting new standards. At Aura, we’re pioneering Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) initiatives, integrating the entire water cycle into urban planning to minimise environmental degradation and enhance aesthetics. Rainwater tanks are a mandatory feature in all Aura homes*, capturing over 50% of roof water for external use and household needs.
Additionally, our streetscapes and landscaping feature Rain Gardens (Bio-pods) designed to filter pollution out of stormwater, ensuring the cleanliness of Bells Creeks and Lamerough Creek. As Aura evolves, a network of lakes and wetlands will be established to further enhance water quality and biodiversity.
With a focus on environmental stewardship, over 70 hectares of temporary wetlands will be integrated into Aura’s green spaces to control and clean stormwater runoff. Furthermore, the rehabilitation of dedicated Environmental Protection Zones (EPZ) and transitional corridors will contribute significantly to the health of local waterways.
Residents are encouraged to actively participate in conservation activities as Aura continues to evolve, fostering a sense of community and environmental responsibility. Together, we can create a sustainable and thriving environment for generations to come.
